EvoKey participated in the Dubai conference, on June 4, 2023. The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of the Dubai Chamber, conducted fruitful discussions today with the Palestinian delegation with the aim of enhancing cooperation in the field of digital economy and strengthening bilateral relations. The delegation included senior executives from the Palestine Bank Group and Intersect Incubator, in addition to 21 representatives from startup companies including Evokey. This meeting marks the first of its kind between Dubai, Palestine, and Jordan, with the aim of enhancing business opportunities and economic partnerships.

The Palestinian trade mission’s agenda included holding 237 bilateral meetings with Dubai companies, at an average of ten meetings per person, a record number that reflects the importance of meetings in achieving common goals, interests, and relationship development.

Hashem Al-Shawa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestine Bank Group, led the Palestinian delegation, which also included Linda Tarazi, a member of the Board of Directors, Kamel Al-Husseini, Director of Relationship and Strategic Cooperation Management, and Rabea Al-Rabi, CEO of Intersect Incubator for Entrepreneurship. Representatives from 21 Palestinian and Jordanian startup companies also participated, eager to visit Dubai to learn about the thriving digital economy in the Middle East region and explore trade cooperation opportunities.

Lootah briefed the Palestinian and Jordanian delegations on the efforts of the emirate to attract 30 unicorn companies by 2033 and affirmed that Dubai’s startup ecosystem has contributed to the success of numerous unicorn companies over the past twenty years.

In another context, Hashem Al-Shawa delivered a speech in which he affirmed the role of the Palestine Bank and the importance of partnering with the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. He pointed out that Palestinian and Jordanian startups are seeking expansion in the region, and Dubai serves as the natural platform for these companies to establish a presence and develop their businesses.

This was followed by an open dialogue where representatives of Palestinian and Jordanian startup companies asked questions and received answers. The discussions covered a wide range of sectors, such as transportation, education, construction, engineering, real estate, energy, software solutions, e-commerce, and retail, enterprise resource planning solutions, artificial intelligence and financial solutions, and agriculture.

During the visit, the delegation members became acquainted with the business environment in Dubai, starting from investment opportunities to facilitating business establishment procedures. They also reviewed the reality of small and medium-sized enterprises in the city, which constitute the majority of companies in Dubai, contribute significantly to the gross domestic product, and employ a large workforce.

The National Jordanian Committee for Women’s Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Intaj, and GIZ, held an awareness session for young men and women in the information and communications technology sector with the participation of Evokey. The session took place on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the University of Jordan.

At the beginning of the session, Mrs. Nesreen Al-Sayyid, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Jordanian National Committee for Women’s Affairs, delivered a welcoming speech. Mrs. Rawan Naser, the Executive Director of Evokey Company and CEO of both Motor Wheels and Evokey, was among the speakers at the session.

The organizing committee of the conference made sure to include subjects that address the latest insurance developments worldwide, with a focus on current issues that concern all global insurance markets. They also discussed its role in supporting various economic sectors related to conference tourism, especially with the increasing number of participants, which exceeded 750 in 2022, compared to 250 participants in 2008, an increase of up to 300%.

In a related context, the organizing committee of the Aqaba Conference held its ninth meeting at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Ayla City, which will host the conference’s events. During the meeting, various topics related to conference activities, facilities, and logistical services for the participants were discussed, aiming to ensure the success of the conference and provide sufficient spaces for bilateral meetings to discuss joint business and arrangements for the accompanying exhibition for sponsor companies and meeting rooms to facilitate communication among participants, especially considering the significant participation of global and Arab insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as brokers in the Jordanian insurance market.

Furthermore, the organizing committee announced the launch of the third edition of the Aqaba Conference Insurance Research Award, which will be presented to the top five research papers under the theme “Bank Assurance: Its Impact on Insurance and Financial Inclusion.”
